Hi, everybody.
I have got to-day from the MDP the following information concerning the 2 euro Asterix coins :
1) it is confirmed that there will be NO "common" 2 euro coin.
2) there will be a 2 Euro coin in BU (10 euros) and in BE (20 euros).
3) there will be 3 different blisters containing the 2 euro coin of the BU : one blister Astérix, one blister Idefix and one blister Obelix
4) the mintage of each blister will be 100.000, i.e. a total of 300.000 BU.
5) normally the blisters will be available on April 26.
Considering this, I ask my partners to tell me what they are interested in.
No change for the "Berlin Wall Fall" : there will be a coin, a BU and a BE. Normally in November

Re: LATEST NEWS concerning the French ASTERIX coin
Hello,
Thank you for the update. It will be 3 different coincards or 3 different BU sets (with the 2E and the smaller coins?)

Re: LATEST NEWS concerning the French ASTERIX coin
It concerns the 2 euro commemorative coin and not the set of 8 coins

When I understand it right, it should be one Asterix 2€ coin in 3 different coincards.

First they wanted to use coin rolls but they erased that plan. Now they gonna issue 3 different coincards. Very clever from MdP.
It’s like they want to get more money of coinhandlers aswell.

Re: LATEST NEWS concerning the French ASTERIX coin
Hehe no problem. We could feel this coming i think. Also very low mintage i heard. Especially for those wo collect them in the coincards. I don’t need 3 different packages but will be a very popular coin i think. I was wondering why they never make a tour de France commemorative 2 euro. Or one with the eiffeltower. Also typical French.

Re: LATEST NEWS concerning the French ASTERIX coin
I'm afraid that such decisions might return as s boomerang to mints.
I noticed that many collectors don't collect 2€ CC coins which are sold only in coin cards and not also in rolls. Even more. Many stopped collecting 2€ CC coins or even Euro coins at all.
At the end it might happen that mints will stay with unsold stock of 2€ CC coin cards, because not a lot of collectors are prepared to pay 8€ for packaging of each 2€ CC coin. I seriously doubt that 300.000 collectors exist, which are prepared to pay 10€ or more for each 2€ CC coin.
Just check market prices (end prices of auctions) of Belgium 2€ CC coins which were issued only in coin cards. Market prices of practically all these coins are (much) lower as issue price...
